Week of 10/6 Update

Next week, we will practice on Saturday the 11th at Twin Brook. We will freestyle roller-ski. The practice will run from 10:15-11:45. The 10:15 start time will directly follow the Craig Cup XC running race. Jeff Walker, from the Coastal Nordic Ski Club board is co-directing the race. To make the race go smoothly, he is seeking volunteer assistance from Maine Coast Nordic, both athletes and parents. Please see the infomation below from Jeff regarding the Craig Cup race. This is a great way to give back a bit to the ski and running community.

Jeff Walker is looking for MCN student and parent volunteers for the Craig Cup 5K XC running race, which will be run October 11th at 9AM at Twin Brook. The race is dedicated to Rob and Katie Craig (http://www.craigcup.org/about.html). All proceeds from the race will go to Ingraham Youth Alternatives to fight mental illness. It would be especially appropriate to have volunteers from students and/or parents associated with the MCN skiing program.

This race is fun and open to all but is also the USATF-Maine state XC championship so there will be some fast runners there and it will be fun to watch them race! He needs 3-4 parent volunteers to help with registration and collecting race bibs at the finish. You will need to be available by 7:30AM. He needs 3-4 students to help with registration and about 6 kids to help direct traffic on the course (essentially you would stand at intersections and make sure runners stay on course!).

The race starts at 9AM. If you volunteer to help with registration, He will need you by 7:30AM. If you volunteer to help on the course, he will need you by 8AM. If you don't volunteer, then register and run it (especially parents). It's loads of fun! The web site is http://www.craigcup.org/start.html

Please talk to your child about this opportunity ASAP and e-mail me back ASAP if you can help. Jeff's email address is walker@maine.edu. Thanks for considering this.
